About Keith Gore

For more than 27 years, I’ve represented individuals facing serious criminal allegations — often at the most difficult moments of their lives. Over that time, I’ve seen how quickly a criminal accusation can expand beyond the courtroom and into every part of a person’s life.

When allegations involve family members, intimate partners, or children, the consequences are rarely limited to jail or probation. They can affect where you live, whether you see your children, your employment, and your future. My practice is focused on criminal defense, from stand-alone criminal charges to cases that also involve protective orders, family dynamics, custody disputes, or related civil proceedings, with particular experience in matters where allegations carry serious personal and family consequences.

Experience From Every Side of the System

I began my legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County in 1998 before entering private practice in 1999, and I have remained committed to criminal defense ever since. Over the course of my career, I have tried more than 100 jury trials and regularly advocate for clients before judges and juries.

I have also served as a municipal court judge and as a grand jury foreman in Collin County. Those roles gave me a rare, firsthand understanding of how criminal cases are evaluated — by prosecutors, judges, and juries.

That perspective shapes how I approach every case. I understand how charging decisions are made, how evidence is weighed, and how cases actually move through the system — not just how they look on paper.

Trial-Ready Defense in High-Stakes Cases

I am certified by the First Administrative Judicial Region of Texas to serve as a first chair trial attorney in capital murder death penalty cases and regularly handle complex, high-exposure state and federal criminal matters. While many cases resolve without trial, meaningful outcomes are often achieved by preparing cases as if they will be tried. Trial readiness strengthens negotiation posture and protects long-term interests.

Whether a matter is straightforward or deeply complex, I devote the time and attention necessary to understand the facts, investigate thoroughly, and build a defense strategy tailored to the realities of the case. I intentionally keep my caseload small so each matter receives the time, focus, and preparation it deserves.

Focus on Criminal Cases With Family Impact

Many of the clients I represent are facing criminal allegations that intersect with protective orders, CPS investigations, custody disputes, or divorce proceedings. These overlapping matters require careful coordination. Decisions made in one court can affect outcomes in another.

When criminal and family-law issues converge, my role is to see the full picture — to defend the criminal case while anticipating how each step may affect family relationships, custody, and long-term stability. Where others treat these issues as separate, I account for how they interact.

Professional Recognition

I have been recognized by my peers for my work in criminal defense, including selection to the Super Lawyers list (2013–2015, 2019–2025), Super Lawyers Rising Stars (2012), and The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers (2014–2025). I also hold a 10.0 AVVO rating and have received the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s Heart of a Champion Award.

A Measured, Personal Approach

Clients often come to me in crisis. I treat each case with urgency, discretion, and respect. I take the time to explain options clearly, without legal jargon, so clients can make informed decisions at critical moments.

Every case is different. My commitment is to careful preparation, honest counsel, and a defense strategy designed to protect what matters most.

If you are facing criminal allegations — whether or not family or custody issues are already involved — I am prepared to help you understand your options and move forward.

Who I Work Best With

I work best with clients who understand the seriousness of their situation and want thoughtful, prepared representation. These cases require time, judgment, and careful strategy. I intentionally limit my caseload so I can give each matter the attention it deserves.
